چکیده

Effect of a toroidal rotation on the type-I edge localized mode in JT-60U is investigated numerically. As the result of the numerical analysis, it is confirmed that the plasma rotating experimentally in the co-direction to the plasma current is approximately on the stability boundary of the MHD mode even when the rotation is neglected. However, the plasma rotating in the counter-direction is far from the stability boundary under the static assumption. Since both plasmas have the type-I ELM, the edgeMHD stability is reassessed with the toroidal rotation effect. This stability analysis clarifies that the rotation of this counter rotating plasma can destabilize the edge localized MHD mode, and can resolve the discrepancy that the type-I ELM is observed in the plasma that is MHD-stable under the static assumption.

Formation of Internal Transport Barriers and Lts Lmpact on the Jt-60u Plasmas Ide Shunsuke+ and the Jt-60 Team

Formation of internal transport barriers (ITBs) in a plasma is a key to access to improved confinement. In JT-60U, there are two types of plasmas which are accompanied with ITB. One is a high Bo plasma and the other one is a reversed magnetic shear (RS) plasma. In RS plasmas, interesting features can be seen in spatial profiles of plasma parameters. For example, the location of the ITB can be s...

Effects of a Toroidal Rotation on the Stability Boundary of the MHDModes in the Tokamak Edge Pedestal

Effects of a toroidal rotation are investigated numerically on the stability of the MHD modes in the edge pedestal, which relate to the type-I edge-localized mode (ELM). A new linear MHD stability code MINERVA is developed for solving the Frieman-Rotenberg equation, which is the linear ideal MHD equation with flow. As the result of the stability analysis, it is revealed that the sheared toroida...

1 EX / P 3 - 3 Correlation between the edge and the internal transport barriers in JT - 60 U

For understanding of the physics processes determining the radial profiles of the plasma pressure in the advanced tokamak plasmas, correlation between the edge and the internal transport barriers (ETB and ITB) has been studied. We fond that the edge pedestal beta, βp-ped, increases almost linearly with the total βp over a wide range of the plasma current for the type I ELMing H-mode, and the de...

Localized Tungsten Deposition in Divertor Region in JT-60U

Deposition profiles of tungsten released from the outer divertor were studied in JT-60U. A neutron activation method was used for the first time to accurately measure deposited tungsten. Surface density of tungsten in the thick carbon deposition layer can be measured by this method. Tungsten was mainly deposited on the inner divertor (around inner strike points) and on the outer wing of the dom...

Study of Ion Cyclotron Emissions due to DD Fusion Product Ions on JT-60U

In this paper, ion cyclotron emissions (ICEs) due to deuterium-deuterium (DD) fusion-product (FP) He, T and P-ions on JT-60U are described. Electromagnetic waves with finite toroidal wave numbers are detected by using ion cyclotron range of frequency antennas as pickup loops. The toroidal wave numbers are evaluated from the phase differences between two antenna straps arrayed in the toroidal di...
